“Making America Great Again”

Friends, this will be a short post. I have a longer one coming, maybe tomorrow if I’m not being too ambitious.

Right now, like right nowTrump’s transition team is soliciting feedback from Americans on how to “Make America Great Again”. I URGE you to speak your mind here. Anyone can. But listen: be sure that your message is elevated above the hateful and childish rhetoric that his campaign has tried to normalize over the past 18 months. This is what I wrote:

I am very frightened of your presidency. The hateful rhetoric that you have engaged in during your campaign has fueled the alt-right movement and hundreds of hate crimes since your election. While you may not see that your words have led to these actions, millions of people throughout the country are living in fear. If you want to be a truly great president, you must denounce the alt-right movement. You must not hire Steve Bannon onto your staff. You must engage in social programs to help women, minorities, and members of the LGBTQ community. You must show us with your ACTIONS and your WORDS that you are capable of greatness. You must show us with your ACTIONS and your WORDS that you home to unify this diverse country that you have worked so hard to break up not only during your campaign but since Obama was elected in 2008. You must be on the right side of climate change. America has always been great, but your presidency has the potential to shatter it. Show us otherwise. I cannot and will not believe in your abilities until you start showing us that you care about anyone other than yourself.

When I reread this statement, I realize that there are SO MANY MORE things that I could have and should have said.

ALSO Ellie Shechet over at Jezebel wrote a great article about taking the ‘First 100 Days’ survey that Trump’s team has disseminated to SUPPORTERS via email asking

In 58 days, we begin our mission to Make America Great Again!

As I’ve said so many times before, I will not be able to do it alone. I’ll need you to step up and play an active role in fixing our country and enacting our platform for America.

Which is why I’m asking you to take the 100-Day Plan of Action Survey, so that we can determine what we MUST accomplish as our first order of business.

However, the survey link is not closed to just Trump supporters. ANYONE can take the survey* with the caveat that you must provide a name and valid email address at the end. As Shechet says in her article, there is no way to straight up down vote any of the options – they range from highly important, somewhat important, not important, and no opinion – but even marking these things as ‘not important’ will show up in their stats. Regarding the email bit: girl, just make one up if you don’t want to share your personal information with them. Lord knows he won’t share any personal information with us (AHEM: TAXES).

Another plus to this survey? Whoever created it didn’t put a limit on the amount of times you can take it. So, have at it, hoss.

    • You know, it could be and probably is a total waste of time, but both things take around 2 minutes to do so why not? I’ve read quite about about the EPA appointment. I’m very troubled by everything that he is doing and everything that is going on and I can’t just sit by and do nothing. (This, by the way, isn’t the only thing that I’m doing).

      • I misspoke, for which I apologize. If it makes you feel better to clarify your feelings through writing, it isn’t a waste of time. I should have said something more like I don’t believe it is a very effective method to get through the Great Wall of Trumpistan.
